The vision behind the institution is rooted in the life and work of Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma, whose professional journey reflected a strong commitment to healthcare, community service, and the development of medical and nursing education.
Born on 14 October 1938 in Gobindpuri, into a family of agriculturists, Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma was the youngest of three brothers. From a rural background, he pursued his ambition to enter the medical profession and went on to complete his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from Medical College, Amritsar.
In 1972, while serving as an Associate Professor at Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana, Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma returned to Yamuna Nagar in response to his father Pt. Jhandu Lal Sharma's call. He subsequently established Lal Maternity and General Hospital, beginning a long association with healthcare service in the region.
Alongside his wife, Dr. Krishna Pandit, he worked to provide medical care to the local community at a time when healthcare facilities in the area were comparatively limited.
His interest in medical technology and improving patient care also led him to place emphasis on modern medical equipment and facilities.
Serving the community with empathy & affordable care.
Pioneering modern surgical & diagnostic facilities.
Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma contributed not only through clinical practice but also through professional organizations and public service. His professional leadership included serving as:
Elected 3 consecutive times to lead the state medical fraternity, spearheading healthcare reforms and doctors' professional welfare.
Representing national policy formulation, ethical standards, and academic enrichment across India's premier medical body.

Through these roles, he remained involved in the wider medical community and professional development of healthcare.
Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma later extended his commitment to public service beyond medicine. He entered the political arena and was elected as an MLA from Yamuna Nagar.
His public life reflected his broader interest in contributing to the development of the region and its people.
Dr. J.P. Sharma envisioned an institution that would empower young minds from rural and urban backgrounds with world-class healthcare skills, transforming passionate learners into compassionate nursing leaders.
Beyond his work in medicine and public service, Dr. Jai Prakash Sharma carried a vision of creating an institution that could contribute to the future of healthcare through education.
